The Classic Air Race

Another great year for this unique two day event  showcasing  over 50 vintage aircraft in airworthy condition,  re-creating that golden era of flying between the wars, the innovation during the Second World War itself and the peacetime years after.

Also the Canadian Air Forces were present with a CH-146 Griffon and the Skyhawks parachute team did an outstanding performance in their CC-115 Buffalo. The comments received from the public, and the pilots were very positive and planning for next year’s event is already in the works. photo

Biplanes such as DH Fox Moth and Tiger Moth from the Michael Potter’s Vintage Wings of Canada Foundation, amphibians such as four Seabees and several DH Beavers, two Globe Swifts, Pitts Special, 1941 Piper PA-17 Vagabond , Aeronca 7AC , Taylorcraft BT-12, two PT-17 Stearmans, Pietenpol, replica German Storch, a couple of Harvards, FW-149, CJ-6 Nanchang and a beautiful Bellanca Cruisair were  featured, providing an intriguing contrast with the nostalgic roar of the  beautiful Spitfire and P-51D Mustang of the Vintage Wings based at the Gatineau Airport .

The Classic Air Rallye will be back again for 2008 - even better than last year! In 2006 and 2007 we showed that we can deliver a great show at Rockcliffe, and recapture the warm, close-up friendly atmosphere we used to have in our earlier days. Participants and public loved it, and have clearly told us so

And for 2008 we are teaming up again with Vintage Wings of Canada to make this one of the best little air shows in Canada! With the whole VWoC fleet on display or in the air, as well as more visiting aircraft, this promises to be a spectacular event for aviation enthusiasts and the whole family.

Next Year: August 23rd and 24th 2008.
We look forward to seeing you there!
